Graham Budgett, Bath & West 2019

Thirteen years old in 1968, transformed by hormones, world events and psychedelia, we were 'baby hippies' according to one of the Hell's Angels we encountered on the back of a lorry while hitchhiking the 190 miles from Manchester to the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music.

There in 1970, for 55 shillings ["55/-"], or £2.75 for the sleep-deprived weekend, among a star-spangled line-up in the wee hours of the second day, we witnessed our beloved Floyd, complete with choir, small orchestra, spectacular fireworks and light show, performing a nascent version of what would become 'Atom Heart Mother', then called 'The Amazing Pudding', a glorious cacaphony.
