GRAHAM BUDGETT: A BRIEF US HISTORY

Pre-digital, in-camera, photo-textual montages, 1985

Bikini

BIKINI, a tiny atoll in the South Pacific Ocean. According to popular myth the place where, in 1946, the first tests of the atomic bomb were carried out. At the same time, because of its then equal notoriety, the name given to the two-piece bathing suit.

Since history has shown that the first atomic bomb tests were actually conducted over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, we may now correct another historical oversight and rename both parts of the classic womens' beach fashion.
